central locking button inside car

For some reason the button inside the car to lock the doors does not work. However when i press the keyforb the button lights up. Its a strange one, I really want to have R.A.I.D activated after the recent carjacking round near mine.
Would this be covered under warrenty if I have had a jvc unit fitted????

dont you have to hold it down for a few secs to activate raid?

Yes for the RAID you have to do it for about 5 seconds and then it's activated, the same to turn it off.

Hold down the button for 5 seconds with the ignition switched on , then you should hear a beep . This activates R.A.I.D or deactivates it .

Thats what i have done but my point is that the button does even work when pressed with the engine on etc, so i cant lock my doors from the inside.

Anyone help with that? thanks

your doors should lock automatically when you pull away if you've activated it.

possible faulty button. Does anyone else you know have a mk2 ph2? if so just remove the unit holding the buttons (pulls out easy) undo the plugs behind, of which there are 3 and swap it out with yours. If it works then you have a faaulty button, probs would cover it under warranty even with the JVC fitted. If not the unit with the buttons in you can probably pick up for 15 quid from the scrappers.
