Centriun Dvd Player Help

Does anyone know how to get dvd players to work whilst the engine is on? Mine only seems to play whilst the ignition is off.

?? thats a weird one, if anything it should only work while the ignition is on..

what have you wired it up to power wise ? is that even the problem ?

Yeah the player worked today whilst driving along. Now I think there is a fault with the dvd player. Sometimes works, and sometimes keeps saying disc loading forever.

Suppose 100 quid for a dvd player, you get what you pay for.

Damn its the alpine monitor thats the problem. Its got some kind of video lock.

I think i see your problem.

ALL/MOST monitors have a parking brake feature on them.

Now dependign how you have wired this up, it will only allow you to watch video/or enter setup while your handbrake is on.

Now if you wanted to use the unit all the time. You have to get around this problem

Normally, all it is is a wire checking there is a ground, connect the parking brake connector, (on bak of HU) to a permanant grnd.

Then u shud eb sorted.

Dont get me wrong, I am not intending to drive whilst watching dvds. I just want to make use of the dvd mp3 function, so I can have 4.7 gb of mp3 on the go.

One wire goes to the handbrake and one wire to the footbrake. So do I just unplug the 2 wires and ground those which goto the alpine head unit. Then the 2 loose wires to the footbrake and handbrake, ground those is well.

(For anyone that has one cva1003, footbrake is yellowblack and parking brake is yellowblue, although I got this from a US site and make no representations as to whether its true or not.)

Im nto to sure hwo urs is done,

but all i can say from experience of fitting the Alpine 1004R

,The wires which come from the Head Unit (Alpine screen)

should just be one which goes to the handbrake, u just need to ground that wire,

eg. just tap it onto the ground on the back of the headunit (black wire?)

Flippin heck. Grounded the handbrake wire and still when I turn on the ignition the dvd goes into now loading mode. Only time the dvd works is when the car is switched to ac or on.

Its my other car an evo viii. Not sure who wired it because I brought the car second hand. I have grounded the alpine cva 1003 monitor and this works on the go. Turn the key one click to ac and press play on the dvd and it works, then I start the engine and the dvd goes into now loading mode flippin doing my head in.

Thanks for all the help. Rewired the whole system and it works fine now. Worst of all, after all that, the bloody thing dont play mp3 dvdrs, it only plays mp3 on cdrs.
