change your cambelts on time

well the quick top-end rebuild the car came in for isn't going quite to plan

nope, but the top edge of every bore is dinked quite badly and the head is scrap due to the valve stem punching a nice hole.

Looked like it's not been serviced in a long time too. and it's a ph1 engine in an 02 plate ph2 which is weird

That pic should be included in one of the buyers guides. If people know that can happen, they might be more persistent in getting the belts done before the car is picked up.

I told the garage I wouldn't buy the car if they didn't change the belts, or nock at least £500 off.

is he going to end up putting another s/h engine in, and having the belt done as it should have been first time round?!

he does it well too.... well I say that, he did mine last week and the car is still quite happy! lol

Not just belt failure that causes this, the valves break off from the stem sometimes.
Was a tech note on Actis about this ages ago.

I hope my boat engine dont look like this when I take the head off it at the weekend as the belt jumped a few teeth eeek
