Changes 182 dog bone OEM, vibrations

Changed my dog none in the 182, only one side was jacked and stands up in the air, I took the old One off no problem.

But when I put the new OEM on the hole that goes on the gearbox was about 8mm out, I jacked up the other side and also had to use a breaker bar to slightly line the hole up, all done...

But now I've got a bit of vibration which doesn't feel normal, obviously i had to tension the thing into place so there's much more vibration, do I need to loosen the engine mount a bit?

Pretty sure I fitted it the right way up :/

Sorry for the bad wording did in a rush on the iPhone, exhaust is sticking on a cm more on the back, shall I undo the engine mount need to be pulled back a bit? Will sort the unneeded tension on the dog bone?

Ill shoot myself if ive put it on the wrong way up.

Thats the right way up. Been chasing a similar issue with a vibration myself today. Not helped by the fact 2 cyliders have low compression so I can't tell if it's the engine causing the vibration or the mounts grrrrrrrrrr

I have been told some people suffer vibrations when only changing the dog bone, as it passes the vibration along upto the engine.

This could be bullshit though,

I think the engine was sitting where it wanted after vibration and what not over the last 52k its covered, with the original dog bone in place, wearing away slightly, and due to the way i had the car jacked when i took the old one off, when trying to place the new one in i was half a hole out from it being centered.

So ive had to tension the engine back towards the end of the car, so now i have some tension on the engine vibrating the car, and the exhaust is sticking out a bit, so im hoping on flat ground if i loosen the engine mount, it should come forwards towards the front a bit and it will solve the problem.

This could be bulls**t though,

only if there's an issue elsewhere. I've fitted dozens without causing excessive vibration

Have a look at the end of this page please fellas... i remember seeing on the new dog bone the hole looked like it was filled and re drilled :S more inwards...

You can see an outline of where the circle is on the new mount, similar to the old one, but on the new its been re drilled further inwards...

That would make sense as to why i was far out with the aligning, but not much sense as to why it would change? more rigid?

Heres the comparison pic, im kind of eager to know why its been re drilled... or if i should change back to standard eventually, all im getting is more vibration.

Looks like a manufacturing Fu*k up from the factory. Defo not right IMHO.

But in thinking, if the vibration is only there after removing this mount then it must be drilled off centre for a reason. No idea why though.

There was no vibration before, just a clunk into first which i thought was a sloppy dogbone...

But the old dog bone is fine really, i thought the misalignment was because of the way i had the car jacked up... i only noticed the drilling differences when comparing the photos and it all made sense

I think the old one may be going on... But im still baffled as to why it would be done on purpose, it just didnt fit at all.

yeah renault have moddified the part for some odd reason

you'll probably have to adjust the other mounts to suit, easier and less hassle to just whack in a powerflex kit TBH

Im getting strange noises in reverse, vibrations seem to have calmed abit, worse tbh! and exhaust is sticking out!

Not going to be able to pull the engine back to the front of the car am i? because the dog bone wants to pull the engine to the rear

Might put the old one back on tbh.

Have you made any more progress with this ??

Nope the new mounts still on the car... its from Renault so a genuine part, initially i was having heavy vibration, its settled down some

Its pulled the exhaust out the back about 5-10mm poss more, so its taught the engine back to the rear

The car crawling when turning etc i get quite bad vibration, if i undo my engine mount the engine will move back releasing the tension but won't solve the exhaust so i think i might take it off (probably with much dificulty what with the tension catching the threads on the bolt holes ) and put the old one back on because its only covered 50k and is in good condition!

Still baffled as to why its been re drilled.

I think the drilling may be normal there is one on eBay at the moment which looks just like yours (being off centre)

Yeah, any mechanics have an opinions as to why it's been re drilled? I know it's not the end of the world, I should just shut up and swap the old one back or buy a power flex kit which I may do.
