Changing 172 for 182

I think I and many others have had this discussion many times before but...

When I come back from holiday next week, I want to put my car up for sale. I am planning on getting a 182 as there's nothing really else that floats my boat in the same £=performance range.

One of the main reasons for wanting to change is, I'm wanting to get away from a black car, as I never have time to keep it looking clean, and although I'm keeping on top of it at the moment, come the winter I simply won't have time and it will depress me.

If I manage to get a RB or Silver 182 then I think I will be a bit more happy. But will I regret it? Spending an extra £2k-£3K on a car that is ultimately the same as mine, even though it will be slightly newer?!

I'm in the same boat mate. I've just thought feck it, why not. You will be getting a newer car and diff colour. I've found a black gold 182, just think I will get bummed on part ex.

Ste, don't go for black lol.

But when I get in it to go for a drive, will I be faced with

"ooh look I've gained some buttons on the steering wheel and lost my 6cd changer" lol

or will I actually feel it's worth the extra. I suppose it won't make me feel so depressed about keeping it clean.

Personally i wouldnt bother, if you do avoid black.

RB or something is nice.

I tell you what does look awesome, silver 182 with anthracite turinis!!

Sound like black should be avoided unless your called Rich and keep it in perfect condition lol.

I did this, swapped an iceburg 172 for a 182. Never stopped regretting the decision. Both great cars, but 95% of the time they feel identical. Wish I'd spent the extra on a few choice mods. For 2-3k you could get coilovers (much more choice for the 172), decent seats, inlet matching, exhaust and remap. IMHO would then be a better car than a 182.

I swapped my ff172 for a ff182 with cup packs . Mainly because the 172 was 4 years old and i wanted a new car . The 182 does seem to handle slightly better imo than the 172 , whether thats down to the cup suspension , exaltos or a combination of both i'm not sure . But i don't regret it .

I wanna change mine for the same reasons tbh. Plus I want it pretty much standard, and my 172 doesn't have cruise control

I found when I swictched to a 182 that it handled better maybe beacuse of tyres i dont know, but thats how it felt.

182 does look a bit different with a spoiler, twin zorst and different alloys. Get an 05 plate with a warrenty. Thinking of selling mine...

If you have 1*2 thats reliable I wouldn't dare change it for another one. You could get one and have loads of grief with it.

Agreed, they do handle better, but 3k for slightly better handling, cup spoiler and exhaust?? Loved my 182, but 3k for a car thats no quicker, nicer alloys and spoiler? Coilovered 172 would handle better than a cupped 182.

Think it's a french car thing, my 306 rallye stays neck and neck with my mates 182. 306 is just coming up to 100k miles!

I thought about going to a Trophy, but have had the cambelt done and all that on mine so it's just not worth it IMO.
