Changing Clutch, removing parts help!

Well I've budged it a bit, but its really hard to get it to move sideways so it can go down, its getting it off those locating bolts:

Yea Im not looking forward to putting the box back on lol
At least I've changed the clutch now, so after all this effort I've finally done what I set out to do :)
Yea cheers James, wouldn't have even thought about attempting it if I hadn't spoken to you!

Bux you did it in a day! I don't know how anyone can do it in a day ha! but then again I am a complete novice and I've probably spent more time taking pictures and sending them to big James to check if I'm doing it right!

Edit: My old clutch:
Doesn't look that bad, but I don't really know what I'm looking for lol. Just nice to have a shiny new one on not a rusty old one!

If you put your hand on the front of the clutch plate and you can feel the circle bits, then its worn down, on the new one you shouldnt be able to feel them.

Remember to put the clutch the right way round aswell,

Here is my advice. Dont be smart and try and remove the sleeve over the input shaft to the box. I did and disturbed the seal. Had to take the whole lot out again !

I think the shaft he means is the one inside the bot, were the clutch release bearing and Fork rest on, as behind that seal(held on by 2 screws) is the gearbox oil, so opening it and trying to re-seal could cause leaks.

Yep thats the one. Mine got quite badly chewed when the release baring went poop. I undidi the bolts but couldnt shift it. Unbeknown to me i had managed the pop the seal off the back of it. Not too bad on my phase 1 as it just refits with a new sleeve. Apparently on a phase 2 the box needs splitting !

Hours of work later, one new clutch and the car back together, and my starts perfectly first time. Well apart from having to jump start it.

Most satisfying thing I've done ever. God knows how I didn't muck anything up with my blundering around lol.

Bring on the coilovers next :)

Big thanks to James.f for the guide and helping me along the way. Cheeers

wel done, very brave considering you didnt have a clue what you were doing.

Top work, James.f was a top boy for sorting me out with a guide and even talking to me on msn about what work was needed, But i didnt have the time or balls to do it myself on the drive, So pansied out...

And got a garage to do it.

Must feel very rewarding, I love the feel of completing something mechanical on a car. However much of a b**ch it is to do!

+1

I'd definitely have a go myself at swapping the clutch out on the 182. But it's my daily driver - and if I fecked that up, I'd be more than a little pissed! :)

Well done on getting it sorted!

D.

You wont f**k it up, its simple ;), if James can do it then i think anyone can, you just need the time & patience. Ok it took him 3days to do it all, but he learnt more about his car and how to maintain it, without having to pay huge amounts.

If you need anything James, just text us fella, il be happy to help :approve:

When i did mine i pulled the engine. Had other bits to do as well . aux belt.

It would have gone a dream had i not had to do it in 3 inches of snow and had the issue with the gearbox.

Oh well life is one big learning process ....

Top marks.

Getting it back in's the hard part, lol.

Make sure the clutch is centralised before you put the box back on, too.
