Changing front pads

Just about to change my front pads on my 1.2 16v 2001 clio. Can anyone tell me the best way to tackle this. removing the full caliper from the strut or removing the top cover? Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers

take the top bolt on the caliper out and slackin the bottom one then flip the caliper forward and swap the pads but remember to push the piston back in

Do you need to bleed the brake pipes or whatever? Surely putting new pads in will mean when youre not pressing the brake pedal, theyll stick and get hot?!

in the garage! The braking system is not really touched. you are only opening the piston to remove the pads. no need to bleed the system of air.

no thats why you push the brake piston in, all that will happen is that the brake fluid will riase up in the tank.

do you need to take the lid off the brake fluid tank to allow the fluid to move up properly? its just I once did my discs on my old RT and they were sticking really bad, even though i pushed the piston in. had to embarrassingly take it into a garage to put right!

Yes if you leave it on the brake fluid top pops of and whilst your putting the new pads in you wonder why your cars dripping fluid all over the patio.

Dead easy changing the brakes have a search there have been threads on how to do it.

leave the resorvoir cap off whilst you do it and press the pistons back in slowly.make sure that when your done the levels not above max as this could cause your brakes to bind.
