Its pretty stupid on these lil engines... thetop of the head os covered in so many wires and s**t including the throttle body conveniantly located just above!

Thats a high price from renault..... get quotes from local garages?

Even just gettign to the throttle body when you havnt tackled anything like this can be roughly and hour or 2 just to get that all apart... so total job time may include some hefty labour!

havent been to any other garages yet but my mate had his done on his 106 and it cost him 250. the renault garage said it is leaking oli but cant see any on drive where i park the car at night so must be only a small leak? just done 54k 02 plate. is that bad?

and im just singing at 65k and shes runnign sweet as a nut.

If its just an oil leak it may not be ur head gasket.... sounds to me there trying to get some £££ off you. Ask them to show u the specific leak or take it to another garage for quotation.

the 106 may have been only 250 but remember its adifferent engine and probably easier to get to.

I did my own on an 8v no problem (cambelt snapped, bent all valves, so had to replace all gaskets, head, etc), took an afternoon working outside my house.

have you had a compression test done? i blew my bottom end on my 1.2 16 @ 42k miles oil everywhere in the engine bay, if the compression test turns out fine it will be the rocker cover gasket letting oil out of that
