Changing my cambelt over the weekend..

What a sod it was. Took about 8 hours.

Done about 100miles and it hasn't failed yet. Quieter too..

good on you , they are a pain in the arse piece to change. even with the Tools ( which seem to go in either way LOL)

I used the locking tool for the cams and crank.

The tool for the aux tensioner would have been very useful.

I'll post a pic of our super duper engine support...

I will do. but they is not much to add to the renault pdf I had. Other than this will graze your knuckles and cause a lot of swearing.

Every fricken bolt is a b**ch to get to.

Is a piece of dog s**t how they made all the bolts to slaken etc near imposs to get a socket to lol good on you fella bet you hid the swear jar when doing it LOL.

The pdf is attached to the dialogys cd that you can get off ebay. Its useful.

No more pics of any use.

mate must of been a nightmare i just recently did the cambelt change i took the engine out though has i had blown the engine and was putting a new one in did you leave the engine in place?

why the hell is half of the front of the car missing???!

Its in the pdf. TBH just removing the bumper, which is easy, makes the car look like it half gone.

as its the best way to get the engine as high as you want it when changing the belt.

fook that! get stuck in, the time you ***** about with all that could be spent doing more important things!!

I reckon I have spent about £350 on parts. The service would have cost me about £750. (Thats the whole 72k service) I have the satisfaction of know exactly what been done plus I got some other parts in that price, top mounts, steering arm in that price. I am also learning about how the car fits together.

Changing a steering rack arm is my next challenge. Will be starting a thread soon.

I'll try and get a cambelt guide done, which will be just extra bits to the pdf.
