Changing my ways!

  Clio 2.0 172
Right,I've had 3 corsas up until now but this latest one is starting to cost me money so think it's time to sell up and move on,which is why I joined cliosport as I intend to buy a clio 172.

Had mixed reviews from a post I made for the corsasport general chat so just wanting some info about them from you guys who will chances are be more clued up than most on other forums. Budget wise I will be looking at spendin around 3.5k,maybe up to just under 4k for the right car. Will this get me a good car? i.e low mileage, belts changed etc

Cup models don't really interest me,would rather have a bigger spec.

Basicly any info will help,cheers

Steve

The cup is the only one to have, dont see why you would want a "ff" 172. Not as fast, doesnt handle as well as the cup ive been told. Cup is cheaper to maintain, has turinis and cup spolier. Gash interior mind you lol

You still have your corsa then? Havnt seen it in a while?

Yeh mate cheers. I know one or two things about them such as the cambelts but obviously with having owned vauxhalls all the time theyre more what I'm clued up on so just not wantin to make a mistake so wantin as much help as possible :)

What are they like for every day use? Right now doing maybe 100 miles a week for work so in traffic a fair amount for that. What are they like for reliability?

You're right about the interior being gash! Those seats are a big let down lol. Just like the idea of the better interior, climate control, xenons as standard.

Yeh still got the corsa but it was off the road most of the last 2 weeks between it bein sorted after a recovery truck hit it and a new clutch bein fitted then was back in friday cos they didnt fix a circlip for the driveshaft properly so hit a pothole and lost drive.

Done anything more to your clio? I got told to ask if you've done anythin mechanical cos ve been told it looks more rapid than it should be?

I am currently slapping 70-80 miles per day on my 172 and it is horrible.

hoping for a 1litre for work and keep the 172 for weekend toy, undoubtably, the 20 a month in extra insurance cost may pay for itself owning a 1l for work and back run. and yes, I sit in 2-4 hours a day of traffic to work/back.

I use the black wall tunnel there/back so, it speaks for itself unfortunately.

the 172 is flawless so far, but I am not going to say it is going to last for ever, touch wood. lol

note when I say 'it is horrible' I mean I feel guilty adding so much mileage just for work and back run - not that driving the 172 is horrible, although the heavyish clutch in traffic was a b-tch at first, I am used to it now.
