Changing Oil with Pela pump

Hi,

Just got hold of one of these Pela pumps so I can easily change oil in my car more frequently by just sucking up the old oil through dipstick hole. I want to do an oil change every 6 months-8months including regular oil change which is part of the service where filter is changes.

Question is, do I need to change the filter everytime I change the oil (in between service oil change)? i.e. is it worth changing the oil if you don't change the oil filter?

It's just that the oil filter is a pig of a job to remove without going to all the effort of getting the fuel rail off....

Filters cost next to nothing and its two bolts to take the fuel rail cover off

What the eck? It's not hard to undue the sump plug in fairness.

If you dont change the filter no point doing the change IMO, The filter is there to remove small metal particles which will go into the clean oil in time.

Think of it as a Carbon grinding paste, not good :nono:

Bloody good find mate (if it works), makes a change to see something new on here, instead of the usual bitching about tuning companies, even that’s gone dead.

I’ll be looking at getting one of those when I start doing my own oil changes, there is noway I can get to my sump plug without hoisting the car.

I'd change the filter too . I'm with DrRollo on this one . I don't really see the point in using a pump . It's alot cheaper to undue the sump plug and drain the oil

The pumps are pretty cheap and a lot cleaner and easier than getting car up and undoing the sump.
Sounds like filter should be changed too - I thought that would be the case. I think the best way of doing it is to remove the fuel rail, unless anyone has a better suggestion of making it easier to get the filter out?

How much easier can it be than removing two bolts that hold the fuel rail gaurd on?

You don't have to hoist anything though.... Just put a couple of makeshift ramps down with timber and bricks and drive up it... Undo sump and there you go. Saved yourself buying 1 pump

I did my 182 earlier without even lifting it up you dont need to. (its also lowered )

With you on this also for anyone who has to ask if you should change the filter when doing the oil shouldnt be working on a car AT ALL

Which bolts are these? I did it the other day but used one of those "stap-type-thingys" for getting the filter off. A little awkward but only took a few minutes.
