Changing the handbrake handle???

Hi

Does anyone know how to change the handle?
I've heard that you have to hacksaw it off but I am unsure how that will affect the release button at the end!

i think it bolts through the floor and you have to get the car in the air to change it

I'm confused, I only want to change the end handle part to a chrome one not the full handbrake, are you sure it has to go up in the air?

are you talking about the button or the whole handbrake mate?
i think the button pulls off matey.

Im just on about the handle. I've seen chrome aftermarket replacements an want to put one of them on. I've heard that the handle of the handbrake can be hacksawed off, but i din't want to do this without checking whether the release button could be replaced??
