Changing wheel bearings? MK2 PH1 :s

  K20 EG Hatch
My moms car is making noises from the front passenger wheel. Pretty certain its the wheel bearing.

How hard are they to change as my mate can get me the bearing trade if fitting it isn't too hard.

Cheers

Loosen the hub nut - 30mm socket iirc
Jack up the car and support on axle stands
Remove wheel - 4 x 19mm bolts
Remove caliper - 2 x 19mm nuts
Remove disc - T40 bit iirc
Remove Hub and take to back street garage along with new bearing and ask them to swap them.....will be a £10 max

Then refit in reverse order

45 mins tops

no worries Dan.....its a piece of piss

You may have a bit of a problem with the T40 holding the disc on, but just drill the head off of the bolt if it rounds off and leave the rest in the hub as they are not needed.

Edit - Just realise you have got a 182 so the T40 should be fine, was on my williams that it gave me a bit of grief and was rusted solid

lol its not on my 182!!!

Its on my moms 1.4 16v that has done 45k so it probably will be siezed hehe but we had to do this the other day when we were fitting discs to my mates clio. No biggy, just a bit of a b**ch to do.

Thanks mate.

you need to grease it nicely before you put it back in aswell i think? unless they are in a seal ive never done it on mine before..

bearings are a sealed unit no greasing required.. i just done mine the other day.

mines has done 71k and it took 8 ton on the hydraulic press to get the bearing out!! a was truely sh!ttin ma pants at the time as i've seen bearings and stuff explode under less pressure!
