wen i get to 5000 miles ive decided that im going to take the wheels off again and this time put them in different places (ie back left swap with front left).
This means you are putting the tyres with less tread on the back of the car, which inherently means you are more likely to expirience the back coming out on you, leave it until you get your tyres changed, then put the new ones on the back and the backs to the front, thus keeping rear wheel grip as high as pos mate.
I made a really really big mess of a W reg clio 1.2 after putting my "barely legal" front tyres on the back and the back tyres on the front to try to get a few more miles out of them. Went round a corner in the wet at about 60 (it wasnt a very sharp corner and I used to take it at ~ 80 in the wet) and all of a sudden it switched ends, I rolled several times, still have a nice scar on my chin, but generally was quite lucky to survive.
