chaning dial colours

Car  clio rxe
how easy is it to replace the dials to a white kit, and if i do, what colour will they appear bearing in mind the orange glow there is the now?

in dark they look same

and to change the plastic colored sheet it aint exactly easy , i managed it , look for threads cos u have to take yer dash out

yeah can change dash no prob, what about taking the dials out, is that easy enough, and what do you have to do to put the actual dials in?

i just changed the plastic sheet to a richbbrook one, basically get the dails unit out , lever the needles off , swop the sheet then replace back

looks good bojo, how hard is it to take the needles off, and get them back on? How do you take the black sheet off? do instrcutions come with the kit?

do the needles come off easy enough? If you dont get white leds, does it just look a kinda browny colour at night with the orange glow?

at night they just look like standard ones , e.g u carnt see the white n numbers are in amber orangy ,

once u get to the needles use 2 spoons n lever em off, they will feel slightly stiff just be gentle as u can, to replace by pushing back on, but not allway

when u get em make sure all the side airbag , fog lights all match up , i had to cut mine as 2 was in different places.

the original sheep is stook on but peels off faily easy

the instructions provided are good , sept there made for a mk1 dash and the mk2 has some extra srews behidn the silver twim

erm depends on yer soldering skills , there surface mount leds basically a rectangle 3mm x 2mm if i rember corectly, the ones on ebay come with some instructions or one fella will solder em for u at a extra cost of 50-70 quid ish carnt remember exactly

Muzz,i just got Ron to put blue SMD's into a 172 dial set i got,the SMD's were the ones off Ebay-Guy claims it should take even a novice 1hr to do all the soldering

Showed Ron and he said it would be a c**t but he would try-ended up taking him 3 hrs to do,even had to buy a new finer soldering iron to do it!

if you can remove from car not a problem, I am used to soldering at a small level however if it has to be done in car well then I am propper fooked

yeah you can take them out.

the only problem is the bit you have to solder is on the bottom

The LEDs are about 13p each, so that kit on ebay is very expensive. You do get some instructions though. The polarity is important. You'll need some very fine tweezers and a decent fine soldering iron. I'll be tearing my hair out in about 10 days when my interior comes out.

i've seen them for 80p each(for blue)

so 13p is a bargain:D

just bought the led's to do this conversion but done loads of flatbed stuff before. Decided while the dash was off to get the top cash covered in blue alcantara the same as the seats

hope this looks good, will post pics of the led and the dash
