I love the end of the year as my MOT and tax run out. Luckily insurance is sept, so not the worst i spose.

so far its been

21/11 - Hit a fox, which ended the life of my splitter, lower front grill and the bumper. Cost from renault was over £600, however decided that shopping around was a better idea. So far have sourced the lower grill for less and had a decent quote to repair the cracked bumper and repaint (which it needed anyway due to tossbag binmen who hit it with wheelybin and also some tard in the gym car park over a year ago which scrapped the arch) So iv managed to get the bill down to £210. Not ideal, but better than £600 imo.

30/11 - Tax expires - w**k. £205 to the gov for sod all. Especially made better when it takes the worlds most useless civils contractor 2 attempts to repair a small section of the M8 and also cause a huge pot hole which resulted in 3 hour delays on the 30th as well. Useless t***s.

07/12 - nearing service time again, 60k this time. So time for new brake pads front and rear and some discs for the rear. Total bill for that £210. Black diamonds for the front and grooved discs wrapped in DS2500s for the rear. Throw in braided lines and brake fluid for good measure and the bill eeks up another £60, however it is 1 litre of brake fluid, so not a total nightmare.
Elf Oil purchased at £40 and sump plug as well. Air filter will be installed, a green cotton chappie £20. Steering wheel will also be going on £80 for a non ripped RS effort.

09/12 - rear bumper painted after some scuffs needed tidied up and V6 spoiler finally painted (only took a year!!) £120 for the painting and paint. V6 spoiler £245 (has struts as well)

10/12 - tyres just wont do anymore. Off them come, new contis on front again, £180, ouch. No choice as not enough time for a mytyres and diy special instead, which would have only saved £4, so sod it!!

15/12 - Service (planned anyway). Front and rear pads, discs to rear, braided lines and bleeding of brakes, new oil, plug, air filter and finally the fitting of non ripped RS steering wheel. Labour only as purchased all the guff above, so £70.

17/12 - Mot is due also £50 waste of time for that on top of the service.

£1,470 in under a month.

Id hate to see the running costs for an M3 if this is just a clio.

(admitedly spoiler was purchased over a year ago and filter, oil, steering wheel, braided lines, brakes and discs were all over a 6 month period, but hey it adds up!)

pity carlsberg dont do santas to get this paid for!

I'd say some of those are luxuries and unfortunate vital repairs rather than running costs but still....not a nice bill at Xmas time.
My cambelt was due this month. Quite glad i bought it forward 7 months and had it done in June!

Bloody hell.I had my MOT on the focus yesterday and an oil and filter for the winter for 50 quid

  Shhh
Not that bad..

We spend around about that in the first 3 days of the month, every month..

I wonder why i go to work, when i could go on the dole, and get it all for free..

For example..

Full time school for the 4 yr old, from 9am - 1pm is £10 per day..
1pm - 3pm is free..

Mine is going to cost me the best part of £2k in January :(

Needs service, 4x tires, tax and insurance. Not what you need the month after Xmas.

yeh ok a few luxuries, but notwithstanding that its a big hit.

however it happens every november as the car is about to hit 4 years old, so i did know about it and have the coin in place etc, but just scary when you tally it up!!

some people wouldnt even spend that in a year on maintenance!
