CHECK YOUR JACKING POINTS

All Mk2 172 go and check your jacking points. I was advised from someone on here to check mine about a week ago, and seem to have caused a stir in Renault (including in France!)

My Cup has just hit 8000miles since I bought it new about a year ago. The car has only been jacked up by Renault. It now has a bent o/s jack point. It looks as if it has turned in the way towards the car. Although I have kicked up thick sh*t about this, the law states that I must give the dealer a chance to fix the prob, and if I am not happy with the repair, then I have a right to reject the car.

The car now is with the dealer (Renault Edinburgh),that I bought the car from, who know think that they can repair my car, however, the Garage is getting no backing from Renault UK. They say that this should not have happened and are taking no responsibility for the repair. It has now gone to a head technical person in France who is anylising photographs as we speak.

If it is found to be a problem with car/model, there may be a recall. Please post back if you have/had this sort of thing happen to your car.

yep this is a common problem, all reno will do is straighten it out and tell you if it happens again to bring it back to them

this is a problem all garages will cause. Basically its sheer laziness with the 4 post lift. And yes all ren will do is straighten it. I fine a vice taken off the bench to be very good for this.

Yep...mine have just been in for the Yuri Gellar fix ....bent back and painted.

Took me 9 weeks to get them to do it tho and then had to take it back twice.

If you want pics then I have some.

The same happened to one of mine - it was jacked up with the supplied jack and it just folded over, I actually thought it was going to fall off the jack it bent that much.

I got mine "repaired" by Renault Edinburgh, but they have made a mess of it - they ground all the paint off the lower edge of the sill on the outside down to bare metal and put some crap paint on which fell off after a few months.

judging by the scratches under the car, dont think the tyre place even used the jacking points - LOL

f**kwits

Craig,

I have been asured that Edinburgh Reno have never seen this problem on Clios. This is why it is causing quite a wee bit of a stir. They know what they need to do to put the car right again, but I have told told that this is the first they have seen in the bodyshop. What Reno garage was it exactly?

Cheers,

Mac

Oh, and I retract my origional statement of the causing a stir in france - it is a Frenchman in England that is looking at the photos.

Renault Edinburgh are good people, and are trying to get Renault UK to sit up and take notice of our Jacking point problems - as in my opinion, Renault UK are brushing the prob under the carpet.

Renault Edinburgh at Sighthill (the most useless bunch of halfwits I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with) have seen the problem several times before. They did the bodge repair on mine and I am fairly certain Marc Gibson (Gibbo) the Edinburgh area rep has also had the same problem with his car and was also told by Ren Edinburgh that they had never seen the problem before! So there either telling lies, or have the cranial capacity of a dog turd - which would explain a lot about their service standards.....

I have an iiyama 22" and trust me its still way off the screen.

I will check mine tonight but i have thought of a clever scam.:devilish:
I am not suggesting anyone intentionally injures them selves but
if anyone does have any injuries and a bent jacking point. Just take photos of said injuries (crushed finger etc) and damage to jacking point send to Mr. Frog and i bet you get a pay out to shut you up direct fron Renault HQ.

Try it, will work!

HI All

Glad to see someone is taking notice of my earlier threads on this, I am going to speak to my dealer tomorrow and push this a bit now (again). Ren Edinburgh are lying thru their teath on this too.

Anyone else got anything to say on this matter????
