Checking Mounts

How do i go about checking my engine mounts for damage/play? Also what exactly am i looking for... i dont even know where they are!

I need to do this cos Reno are talking crap telling me my tyres are causing extra stress on the mounts and they "replaced" one but the knocking noise hasnt gone away. I wanna try and prove that Reno have done b*gger all to fix the problem.

Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated.

ok Fubar mate, take your car to a local garage in bournemouth, tell them about your knocking noise, tell them you think it might be the mounts, see what they have to say, they wont charge u for having a quick gander. and might even give u a secound opinion.

worth a try anyway innit?

yeah i know a mechanic up the road... hes always done a good job on my dads volvo (i know, the volvo is shocking). Going up there tomorro to see what he says.

other than a visual inspection and give them a spragg to see if there is excessive movement in them thats about it.

one is underneath to the rear of the engine, one is under the battery tray and the other is near the shocker turret on the drivers side under the bonnet.
