Choosing A Sat Nav Kit

  Chocolate Bar™
not bad for £200, but i think you'd be better paying the extra and going for a PDA based sat nav solution. around £300ish

So whats the difference between the go 500 and go 700?

the difference is you get a remote with it, street level european mapping, whereas the 500 is only major roads. also the 700 is a hard drive unit on loaded on a sd card like the 300 and 500.

So what are the main differences between the garmin i3 and a tomtom unit, do you still neeed a new aerial?

TomTom (anything)

We have the TomTom300 and it's amazing.. it just works - and better than any other Sat Nav I've used before.

If you have a silly windscreen (172, 182), yes, you will need an external aerial.

My dad bought my mum this one & I have used it more than she has. Its a great unit I can't fault it at all (agros are now doing it for £169.99) so its even more of a bargian.
As for needing an ariel I don't in my car (fiat coupe) as it picks up from a long distance, in my mums focus its not as good, so we had to get an ariel for it.

She had a navman 520 before te Garmin i3- but it was sh*t so we took it back.
