Classic Car Show NEC

Just got back from prepping my dads car on display at the Classic Car Show, starting tomorrow at the NEC Birmingham. Brilliant to walk round before the hoards arrive tomorrow. Car looking great so i took a few pictures:

He has owned the car since 1994 and it has had a full respray about 10 years ago plus engine and gearbox out. It is a Vanden Plas EFI which has the same 3.5ltr V8 found in th Vitesse. He will be there all weekend so if you attend go on the Rover SD1 club stand and say hello to him. I will also post a few other pics from when we had a quick walk round earlier.

Load of other amazing stuff there but ran out of time. Spoke to a guy with a Lotus Carlton who had owned it since new and 2 mins before he had been offered £100k for it!! Plus there is a Peugeot 306 Rallye with 309 miles on the clock. I could’ve spent all night walking round talking to the owners..Petrolhead heaven. I am going Sunday so will be on the stand with Dad so please come and say hi if you are going.

Auction stuff was closed off unfortunately but from what i could see a lot of tasty metal for sale.

I know of someone with a Monte Carlo edition escort Cosworth and a mk 1 Mexico. Both low mileage and hardly ever get driven.

He's an absolute ford fan boy so I kind of forgive him.

Monte's are ace!! I don't even think I've ever seen all of the colours (and there were only three different ones!) I do remember years ago coming out of work & there was one there parked up with a Monte plate on it (think it was M9 NTE) I was in awe!!! The Mexico is off the chart cool!!

More from the show, can you tell i’m A closet Ford guy.... ? The want for a Ford Racing Puma is strong now. Ford people take car preparation to a new level. The amount of mirrors on the floor wouldn’t of looked out of place in Hugh Hefner’s bedroom.

Guys in the club really welcoming , had a good chat with them all and their cars are a credit to their hard work and enthusiasm.

Im the same and I think ill always be a ford fan. Don't know what it is but growing up around them and owning a couple if I see one on the road or on the internet I still get a warm buzz. I don't get the same feeling with some other older cars.

It’s an MG SV mate. Only made 149 of them and they cost £85k new. Then the company went bankrupt.

The guy has had that one quite a while from memory!

They're probably a better investment than a lot of cars as the other like the cossie already went crazy. These are in much smaller numbers.
