Have just bought a meguiars clay bar kit for my car however i have never used one before. So just want any advice really on best way etc and how long do you think it will take?

As my friend says that i wil regret it as it buggered his arms in for a week after????

Should not bugger your arms as it needs no pressure, if you push on it you will cause damage.

Split the bar into smaller pieces so you dont waste it if you drop it or use it all if you don't need to. Make sure the clay is warm and soft, use plenty Quick Detailing spray for lubrication. If you drop a bit bin it, pick any big bits of crap it picks up out, gentle pressure just enough to hold it on the panel. Keep kneading it to reveal a clean face.

Use it to do all you glass and wheels after you finish the paint.

Should not take to long to do a whole car the fact the car will need polishing after takes the time - be aware it tends to make the car look worse as it takes you back to clean un treated paint.

Possible to use too much lube Rich?
I was claying yesterday and it just wasn't picking up some of the bits of tar. Or was it because the clay kept going cold?

Personally I use tar remover to remove tar.

Too much should not be a problem I use shed loads - Needs to be warm and sticky to be effective so I would say it was the temps.

Sometimes doesnt work so-well if the clay isn't soft enough. Warmer water should sort that out :)

Shouldn't this be in "Detailing" ?

For me you risk inducing too much damage shearing it off when you can dissolve it safely.
