clay not working?

  Ph1 172 + Combo van
hi im in need of your opinion any help will be great.

i bought some poorboys world poly elastic medium/strong clay to use on my 8 year old platinum silver clio.
was excited to use it because my paint work is covered in tiny little black spots which makes the surface very gritty.
i started using it and it did not pick up any contaminants off the paintwork for what i can see the car is a little bit smoother but there are still loads of black spots on the car. i continued to do the whole car and its still just as contaminated as before.

do you think i need a stronger clay or what can i do to get rid of the contaminination?

the contaminination is all over the car but just seem to be really beded in. i tried one small section for a bout 5 minutes and it doesnt even come off!

Did this on mine the other month. Similar age. Use lots of lube and the only pressure you need is enough to hold it in contact with the paint work. I would try using tar remver on the worst parts first.

cheers guys ill try some tar remover and see if that works. i get clay up the side of the car near the front wheels and normally iy just picks off really probally because it is fresh. the most of the contaminiation is on the bonnet wings and roof, feels very gritty and very embeded.

ive got a pc from my dad as hees a mechanicwould this be of any use?

Give the whole car a wipe over with some AG Tar and Adhesive remover first.

Adding extra lube wont make the clay work any better. I have no experience of the Poorboys clay but would maybe look into another clay i it s not working.

Get some auto clay from a company called Auto Balm, can be ordered through Elite car care too. People seem put off because it is not a Halfords known brand but this stuff is great value and unique in that you don't need to use lube - works with water.

You mean Bilt Hamber clay? Auto Balm is the name of their wax.

I used the Poorboys clay last year, was ok, nothing to write home about though. Used the poly clay from CYC this time and rate it.
