Try and get as much as you can do before hand.

Wash
Clay
Dry
Polish
Wax/Seal

Clean Wheels and Arches, Engine Bay etc
Clean Glass
Clean Interior

At the show rewash if needed, quick detail the paintwork, dress tyres and trim.

This was my process last year

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=245645

Did not have time to post this before the show, avoiding rain showers trying to prep the car ready (Hence no time to do any during pics) but a few people have asked so here it is.

Washed, dried etc. Claying was not needed.

PAINTWORK

Machine Polished mainly with Menzerna Final Finish PO106FA and a Sonus SFX White Polishing Pad, followed by Menzerna Final Finish PO85RD on a Sonus SFX Blue Finishing Pad. Some areas such as the bonnet needed some more attention so Menzerna Intensive Polish (PO85RD 3.01) was used on a Menzerna Polishing Pad first. The car was then Glazed by machine using a Black LC Pad and Clearkote Vanilla/Red Machine Glaze mix.

Full Sized pads where used on the Bonnet, Doors, Roof and Quarters. Spot 4 inch pads for the Rear Spoiler, Tailgate, Front Wings, Lower Doors & Quarters and Front and Rear Valences.

Paintwork prepared for wax with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid by hand to the whole car. As the car was polished in parts and not one hit, Swissvax Onyx was applied to the panels as they where finished. Over the next few weeks the car was then waxed with Zymol Concours, Swissvax Best of Show, and thanks to Brazo the final coat of Wax was Zymol Destiny which the car was wearing for the show. Final Wipe down with GG Synthetic Quick Detailer.

BODYWORK AND TRIM

Headlights machine polished with Menzerna Final Finish PO85RD on a finishing pad. Textured trim dressed with Autoglym Bumper Care Gel, smooth trim with Einszett Vinyl and Rubber. Metalwork polished with Meguiars NXT metal Polish.

ENGINE BAY

Paintwork polished with Klasse All in One, Metalwork Meguiars NXT metal Polish, Plastics and Rubber with Einszett Vinyl and Rubber dressing.

WHEELS AND ARCHES

Wheels removed, polished inside with Rimwax and sealed with 2 coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. Exterior faces sealed with Swissvax Autobahn Wheel Sealant.

Tyres cleaned with Meguiars APC 10:1 and treated with Swissvax Penu.

Arches scrubbed with a strong mix of Meguiars Hyperwash, and the plastic arch liners treated with Autoglym Bumper Car Gel.

GLASS

Cleaned inside and out with glass cleaner and then Zymol HD Cleanse.
Exterior Glass expect front screen waxed with Zymol Titanium. Front screen treated to Duragloss Rain Repel.

INTERIOR

Wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth to all plastics, leather and Alcantara. Dashboard and plastics protected with Poorboys Natural Look and a final wipe down with Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer. Leather conditioned with Zaino Z10.

Needless to say on the way to the show it rained from the moment it came out of the garage so it all began again at Rockingham, car wash now grey on arrival at the show ! The washing and clean up began (hence the pics you saw on here after!)

AT THE SHOW!!!!

Paintwork and Glass - Washed using 20 litres of water from in the boot lol and Quick and Easy Rinseless Wash and the two bucket method. Dried with a Micropak Ultra Soft Drying Towel. Paintwork QD'd with Zymol Detail Spray and finished with Zymol Field Glaze Spray Wax.

Wheels and arches washed with Meguiars Shampoo Plus. Dryed with a AG Chamois.

Glass cleaned with Clearkote Quickshine.

Smooth trim redressed with Einszett Vinyl and Rubber Care aswell as the engine bay plastics. Tyres and Wheel arches with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care.

2 hours later - Job done ....

What products would you recommend mate never tried claying before any advie and do you mean wash dry then clag or wash clay dry.

I use Sonus Green Clay or Meguiars Quick Clay.

I clay using soapy water rather than Quick Detail Spray hence the wash, clay, rinse and dry.

If you are using quick detail spray to clay with wash and then dry, then clay.

is it easy to clay whats the best polish and wax to use and wheel been lookin on cleanmycar.co.uk seen lots of clearcoat and poorboys isnt sonus polish only for red yellow and black cars?

It rained !

by hand most of the time mate havnt machined it yet.

Probably just as well using Autoglym Super Resin, if you have any defects to correct you will need some elbow grease and something like Meguiars Scratch X or the Carlack Hand Polishing Paste.

Did anyone else actually wash their car whilst at FCS? Or was it just you, Rich? :) That is pretty hardcore / anal.
