"Clicking" from rear wheel on cornering....?

  Iceberg 172
Took a couple of roundabouts fairly briskly last night and heard a strange clicking or grating noise coming from (I think) the left rear wheel area. Only heard it twice under heavy load - doesn't do it when you turn right normally and haven't had chance to check again this morning because of the snow!

Sounded a little like the noise you get on full lock when the CV joints are worn, but I'm sure it was coming from the rear... Any ideas anyone?

have you got any stones caught in the outer edge of the tyre tread?

otherwise, would have to guess it's related to the wheel bearing/hub/disc - is it consistent with wheel speed?

No, it was a more 'mechanical' noise than stones.....

Dunno, I only heard it briefly on one roundabout so turned the stereo down and listened again at the next, then I was home so not overly clear on the symptoms yet.

Sounded like that, but fairly sure it was at the rear......

Any other possible causes?

i would jack it up and check the bearing for any play.

also check pads and discs whilst there!
