Clicky external HDD

i've got an iomega prestige hdd that's gone a bit noisy. i don't know if it's been banged about or if it was because i put the wrong power adaptor into it. (right voltage, wrong amps.)
i can read data off it but it's very very slow. i've backed up the important stuff. i'm not fussed about losing my music but i'd like to save it if possible.

is it possible to restore the drive without losing the music?
is it possible to restore the drive, even if i have to wipe it?

if no, can i just put any internal 3.5" drive into it or should i replace with a like-for-like seagate hdd?

cheers

iomega, complete piece of s**t. Just do as Rob saves and then get yourself a decent NAS with Raid.
