clio’s becoming common

i do realise i may be sacrificed for this post or even worse, but the amount of new clio sport models on the road is increasing quickly. obviously as we all know they are great cars which is why, but cos of this, they are becoming less individual than they have been unless you buy a top of the range model.

wot are ur opinions on this?

mayb u live in a rural area-but where i am in essex, they are almost as comon as (dare i say it) corsas which is a shame i think but i spose inevitable as they are such gud cars

  S2000

I think hes talking about Clios in general, and hes right there are so many clios on the road doing the school/Asda run!

The newest clios, and especially in black as mine is is very popular, i see many more than new corsas. However i think this reflects how good the car is. It sometimes makes me want to make the car more individual but its just not worth it. I occasionally see 172s and Cups, not often.

yea clios in general and yes rob, the black ones in particular i think becose it will then match all the plastic, otherwise it wud b silver i recon

mmm....perhaps its the ESSEX, no offence, BoyRacer area you live in. Essex is renouned for their blonde gals, boy racer cars(mainly fords) and er...snooker.

no offense taken-we know quality in essex so we buy clios. but its not jus blonde girls and guys-older people 2, late 20s or even in 30s

it does have a good image which people want to buy-and us in essex are ones for image specially near me. there are more clios in the 6th form of my old school than ne other car, i was one of the 1st to buy-now there are bout 12

I suppose its generally just a good car to buy.

Most car for your money! Good looking, all the gadgets available, reliable, comes in most engine sizes to suit all needs, dont depricate too much unlike other cars available to the market etcetc.

Theres been a bombardment of Billabong Clios where I live, coz the local dealer recently had a big radio promotion and a £1 deposit/ interest free etc deal on them..;)

oooo....Rob, u driving a smart car around? How do u rate it? Managed to power slide it yet?!?

Well its very good actually, as youd expect a rear engined RWD car to be. Its a brabus but still only as fast as my 1.2 clio really but yes you can 4 wheel drift and get the tail out ok. Its a great car to learn car control and why ive seen more turn out on track days. The seats are awesome, theyre full on race looking ones, really cool. Its quite a cheeky little thing! Love the chirrup of the wastegate too!

  RB5 & 172

i see either a different 172 / cup nearly every day.

monday - black 172 mk2 on a31. tuesday evening - silver mk2 on a3. weds - sliver mk1 driving through my home town. - today - cup in aldershot.

still never seen another blue one though and never seen anyone from on here!

Who ever claimed they were uncommon - they arent limited other than the williams or maybe the odd rare V6, but 172s, and 1200 are common as muck - 1600 16Valves are very rare though! and then theres the cups............

The newer shape clio is everywear! The 16v and williams were special cos there was never that many of them. It devalues the car to a cirtain extent. Saying that 172s are not too commen, still see alot more that 16vs and williams put together tho.

Im in Essex too. I find the Cup is getting like the VTR around my way. Dealer had 3 ready for customers to collect when I was in yesterday. Still its all good news if sales are on the up. Renault makes profit and piles it into new models for next year.

Ive just counted 13 new minis on the way home!! And of course a load of Clios. Usually see a couple of 172s a day, but they drive the same route as me.

I must see about 15-20 normal Clios on the way to Warrington from Liverpool every day, but the only 172 I see is the one in my garage !! :D

Seriously, I havent seen another 172 since I got mine.

You wont see many 172s in Liverpool anyway. Unless you can tell the model from a stolen burnt out shell. (not shell suit)

I live in London and I havent seen a 172 in 3 months. Ive never seen another cup either. A lot less common than much fancier cars!

clios in general are very very common but willys, 16vs, 172, cups much more rare in york

saying that we have 3 172s in our carpark and 1 valver. but out and about since i got my 172 i have only see 2 mk 1 172s but millions of (dont flame me) lesser modles

Thats like saying im going to get a sh*t car because i can be individual! I think its wrong to say everyone has them. Theres more focuses, golfs etc

Yeah but Rob I dont want another Renault they are sh*t.... Dont get me wrong I like the clio if it was built to match its looks then it would be a winner.... Plus how can you say a CTR is sh*t when they are better than a CUP/172?

In line with what you said.. ordinary clios are everwhere.. I think there is about 7 in my street alone lol

but I rarely see 172/Cups ...

The two silver clios you saw..There wasnt a half asleep 24 year old guy with oakleys on driving it was there ?

PROBABLY! The first silver 172 was in Malbet Park, Liberton and the only other 172 was at Fort Kinnaird on the east side of Edinburgh.

Something better is the answer! Loads of Audi TTs, Porsches, TVRs, Scoobies, Evos, S2000, CTRs, Elises, BMWs, Mercs and I have seen far more Ferraris and Maseratis than 172s!

Theres a silver 172 on the next street to me owned by a retired couple, a bloke with a cup who flashes me ;)! The local hair dresser has a Williams and one or two very nice 16v..then loads of 1.2s and Billabongs!!!!

And I saw a V6 at the weekend...sounded nice...:)

You scots people must make a fortune brewing Iron Bru!!!

I think that around Edinburgh and probably Glasgow too, that many are in Finance and rip people off, thereby making loads of money to buy these expensive cars!

Also they really dont care about them either. Leave them anywhere and do anything with them. Unlike us who give our lesser cars lots of TLC. And surprise all of the mentioned cars when it comes to a bit of a tear up!!
