Clio 1.2 16v Extreme 3 04 plate - strange misfire.

I've scoured the internet for help with this but can't find anything thats helped so far.

The misfire has been happening on and off for about a year now and im at a wits end with it.

What happens - When im driving the engine light is on constantly and the car behaves normally, accelerates fine no struggling... but then when the engine ligth starts flashing it struggles and will not accelerate .. the light flashes for anything from 30 seconds to 10 minutes at a time and as soon as the light stops flashing and stays on it kicks back into life!

I've changed the coil pack and spark plugs have also been changed.

Had it to renault twice and they would only tell me that it had a misfire on cylinder three and that the coil pack is at fault... So I had it changed again (even though if it was a coil pack wouldnt cylinder 1 + 3 both misfire not just 3?) and it still hasn't made any difference!

Anyone had anything similar? The dashboard trick showed a code "H CC" which relates to an oil level sensor. Im guessing thats just stored from when the car was low on oil (It's parked on a sloped drive and oil light came on when started up).

No-one had this before? or have any ideas or suggestions?

Really stuck with this now as the garage won't pass it for an MOT with the misfire even though emissions are fine.

I've had a problem similar to this but only when cars ticking over whilst warm..

I thought it was due to car having after decat sensor so I blanked that off wasn't the problem but then engine constantly missfiring going down to 3 cylinders...

Changedcoil pack
Spark plug
Fuel filter oand seems to of sorted the problem don't no if this will help...

Thanks I changed all of the above and didn't sort it.

However I did a a compression test yesterday which revealed no compression on cylinder 3 ... Nothing at all.

Gonna be an expensive MOT.
 
No compression on 3 at all? Is it burning oil? Maybe just a bent valve, could be rings, cam, lifter, valve spring.
