clio 1.2 dynamique, need suggestions!

Image link failed fella.

Ultimately, the standard line on these matters is to:-

Colour code black plastic
Lower (springs, coilovers if you're desperate to spend money and have no respect for your spine)
The Clio R.S. grille
"Silverline" bulbs

No sense in spending money on performance mods, you'll see no gains for your effort. The most would be a panel filter (or maybe a 2nd-hand induction kit?)and maybe a stainless backbox if you're so inclined, but they're not the most tuneful of engines (applies to all front-drive clio's unfortunately).

ah :/ im new to cliosport so not too sure on how to upload photos properly. i was thinking making it into a clio sport look a like might be an idea as clio sports look really nice. and maybe buying the clio sport exhaust aswell which may make it sound nice?

No probs.

The "replica" look is very popular, although it needs more than just some bumpers, there's new wings and some sort of geometry issues to contend with IIRC.
I'm guessing you are thinking of the twin-exit exhaust? That's from the 182 clio. Irrespective, it wont sound "nice", just louder... if you think the two are the same then fair enough, but I wouldn't do it.

Have a search for "replica" on here, there's quite a few projects that went that way, you should find plenty of inspiration :)

Hi, welcome, etc.

IK / Exhaust will make noise, but see zero or a negative performance gain, let alone a probable increase in your insurance (I'm assuming you're <20).

If you've got no idea what to do, why not do nothing. Put fuel in, drive it.

Not trying to be negative, just most people (a lot seem to have black ones) end up with a chavy looking van (tints + black car = fail), which they either crash or return to standard after a while anyway.

Wander about here for a while, see what other people do, and if you want to, copy or re-interpret their ideas.

Enjoy !

thanks alot for the ideas, im not sure in what im wanting to do but if i was making it into a clio sport look a like, i would do the proper job including interiors, wheels, bumpers, exhaust, make it look exactly the same but with yellow badges and grey wheels. any links to anyone who has already done this?

This sort of thread should definitely be stickied. Literally half the forum has done this, there's stuff everywhere. Infact there are probably as many posts about reps as there are genuines (which makes me sad as reps downgrade the image of genuine ones IMO) Still reps are popular for the simple reason RS clios look good standard.

Visit the search page: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/search.php

Type in "sport rep" or something like so: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/search.php?searchid=4657315

Click on first link, probably: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/show...-Blue-Sport-Rep-Project..&highlight=sport+rep

It's not the most expensive project & parts are readily available but you're still talking the best part of £200 for the interior, £30 for RS grill, £300 (total guesstimate?) on bumpers, skirts, arches, £50 (?) spoiler, £11 skoda splitter, £100 for the RS steering wheel, £200 for wheels & tyres. Your car will now look like a Renaultsport Clio to pretty much everyone who hasn't owned one. If you want to go the whole hog add £100 (guesstimate) for Xenons, £200 for rear beam & rear disc conversion, £50 (?) for hubcentric spacers to widen the front track, £100 for some Eibach sportlines/prolines to make it roughly the correct height and finally Ktec Racing (AKA KTR) do a "182 look" exhaust for about £300 that you may be able to adapt to fit a 1.2 engine.

£1000s basically. It'll look good but it'll still be slow as f*** and your insurance will go up hundreds if not thousands. If bell/admiral/elephant charged me £100 to insure the optional extra "cup pack" (upgraded suspension/wheels/spoiler/splitter) then I dread to think what they'd charge to insure what would no doubt qualify as a "body kit" in their eyes.

Something else to consider, the 182 came in "black gold" which is NOT the same as the 172 "black" or your "black." You will therefore have to source all your parts from a black 172 (unless you want it to look like the top half of your car is constantly dirty whilst the bottom half is brighter...)

Something far too many people on here overlook is how good a clio can look with a few simple bits and pieces,a clio can look good without being a sport replica. A can of spray paint for £15 to colour code the bump strips, a £30 RS grill and £200 on 172 wheels still looks great!

If I was in your position (age, and probably getting a right doing from your insurance co.), I'd probably keep mods to a bare minimum. Colour coding as someone said (yes, painting the grey bump strips) is always good. I did virtually nothing to my Clio when I had it, and don't ever think "I wish I'd made a rep". Keep it cheap, get some NCB and move on to bigger and better things.

i no what your saying mate but im eager to make it into a project, im just looking into colour coding the bumper strips it looks quite nice, think i might do that, spray my alloys graphite grey and badges, brakes yellow. what do you think?

I'd go for a more subtle colour over yellow. Black or silver. It's up to you though.

hmm :/ i saw a car the exact same on here with the way ive just described apart from the colour coding bumpers and it looked really nice! id like to lower but cannot be bothered to pay alot more insurance! so therefore its stayin on the original springs
