Clio 1.2 starting?

  Clio 1.2 for the boys.
Just a quick post from a new owner. Bought a 1.2 grande for my boy as his first car an x reg. When we looked at it the car fired up first time no problems. Drove it 45 miles home and parked it up. 2 days later went to start it and whilst all the instruments etc radio came on, the engine didnt turn over. Also noticed that central locking was intermitant. So new battery fitted this morning. Fired up no problems. Turned the engine off started to go through the car 15 mins later went to start it, wouldnt start.
Any suggestions would be a great help I dont like the thought of buying a lemon!
Cheers

ther must be something dragging down the battery, take it to a garage and get them to do a drop test, most likely an alternator prob

When the key is turned everything comes on and the starter motor clicks, thats it. Connect another car via jump leads and the car will start.
Confused!

then it must be something dragging the battery down, if it starts when another car is added to it, as said take it to a garage and ask them to do a quick drop test should only take 15mins

On the sarter motor, is a small spade connector, slide it off and wipe all the corrosion off, then plug it back on and give it a go :)

Mine made the loud click when the battery was dead, but didn't turn over. New battery and it was fine.

Got to be something taking the power away from the battery?

Immobiliser by the sounds of it. Possible issue with it meaning it drains the battery, or has a bad connection.

Another reason could be low batteries in your key fob/key needs recoding after replacing the battery when it went dead.

Thanks guys for all the advice really appreciated. Just spent 20 minutes freezing my nuts off but managed to get it sorted. removed the spade connecter and cleaned, still no joy. Then looked at the fuel cut off removed the cover took it all apart and replaced. Took the live feeds off the new battery and swapped them over so the fuse box lead is on top and hey presto she fired up. Maybe all contributing factors, so thank once again.
