Clio 1.2 WS - Upgrade help

Hi all.

Firstly, I appologise for my lack of knowledge with cars - please bear with me!

I have recently bought a 1.2 Clio (World Series) - picture below.

I was used to driving a 1.6 Ford Focus however that was over 10 years old and at the end of it's life so I decided to get a new car. Now that I've driven the Clio for a short while it is considerably slower (I knew it would be - I'm not that bad with cars!) so I'm wondering what I can do to upgrade the engine etc to give it more of a 'kick' in acceleration. I was thinking air filter and exhaust but I'm no mechanic so would love some ideas, quotes and suggestions!

You're gonna be quite limited as to what you can do to really improve anything performance wise... Save and get a 1*2...

Thanks, I know I'll be limited and it may not make much difference but I'm going to have this car for the next 3-5 years, so any little bits that could improve it would be good.

Exhaust and air filter will make more noise but to be 100% honest you'd be p*ssing in the wind as the old saying goes , there's no replacement for displacement !

Unfortunately your stuck with the speed mate unless your willing to chuck your house and savings at it , it's never going to be that quick !

Few breathing mods help but you won't get it near the focus IMO !

Thanks for the advice! I know I won't get it to be 'rapid', I'm just after a bit more on the acceleration front - even if it may only be a slight increase! Any ideas with out spending an absolute fortune?

Yeah, can get rid of a spare wheel I guess, just pray I don't get a flat ;-) and more air... Just an air filter or is there more to it than that?
