clio 1.4 rt

hey, goin to uni soon so thinkin bout sellin my 1.6 16v and gettin an older 1.4 RT coz gona need the money, can someone give me a few performance stats and/or easy tuning mods etc, just want to know a bit about the car. I want to save loads on insurance so thought RT would be best option but if anyone knows of a cheap to insure clio but is better than the RT then im all ears....

cheers, mike

i wouldnt bother..............

the RT is horrid........well, i had a horrid time living with it.

stick with your 1.6, or get one of those free insurance deals with a new clio...itll probably be cheaper to stick with yout car, the insurance money you save will be minimal.

My 1.4 RT suited me fine, not too bad on performance, insurance, tax and petrol mpg but I did suffer a lot of mechanical trouble. Maybe I was unlucky. I traded in my RT for £700 but it looked great on the outside, red, lowered, 15 inch 5 spokes, really nice but underneath, though it ran well, had lots of trouble. Head gasket, water pump, alternator, starter motor, shocks, servicing at 6k miles is frequent too. I had numerous minor problems too. I wouldnt advise against getting one but be sure you get a good one, many are owned by old women and itching to be modded! ;)

Havnt had much trouble with mine (touch wood) it suits me fine, 0-60 12ish seconds, not the best but not too bad. Group 5 insurance, so its cheap i pay £550 tpft and im 19.
