Clio 1.6 16V

Hello,

Recently bought myself a 2003 1.6 16v Renault Clio Dynamique 20k on the clock for 5 grand.

Got a few questions about it.....

How does this car compare to other cars in its range, i.e zetec s, vtr etc...

Also does anyone have any advice on performance modifications to get a few more horses from it, I fitted a k and n induction kit on it, and have been looking at getting it superchipped from superchips.co.uk. Had a look at the k-tec website and the short shift geart lever looks like it could be a handy purchase aswell?

first of all you need to get cold air to your ik, exhaust system + decat, cams, inlet manifold, larger throttle body. really depends how much you want to do!?

imo its not really worth doing anything to the engine,id just upgrade the suspension and tyres personally

will beat a vtr and a zetec s only by a bit though

I was thinking of getting it chipped up, and buying a short throw gear leaver from k-tec?

Already got a k and n on it which sounds good! Was also thinking of a fullsystem exhaust. Obviously a 172 is a better base, but im 18 so can only afford insurance on the 1.6.

Do you own a clio then? How do you find it? Have you done anything to it? Any adivce in regards to it.

Yep (<--- look at my pic, lol) a 2003 1.6 16v Dynamique (has electric roof and climate) and it's like sh*t of a shovel! Very quick for a 1.6.

Not done much, changed stereo to a Sony CDX-MP40 and replaced speakers with Sony Xplods.

Main bit of advice would be not to squirt the hosepipe in the front wheelarches too much when your washing it as it'll not start properly, like me and a couple of other guys on here have found out!

Indeed, Very good choice, they go really well for a 1.6 suprised a lot of my mates with mine when I had it

Yea it feels alot quicker than my old car 1.0 Polo!! How does your clio compare to other cars i.e vtr zetec s? I came across a vtr and my car was a bit quicker than it but nothing major. Had a few barry boys trying it on in 1.2 corsas but nothing to worry about....??

Forget the bigger throttl body as since its electric you'lll lose the will to live once you start fiddling. Either exhaust and decat and remap or go the whole hog head work, cams, individual throttle bodies etc Thats my personaly opinion. hen again if you want most power per £ get either N20 or a 2.0 172/182 transplant.
Forget the quickshift personally chnage the oil in the gearbox every 2 years and engine regularly (ever 6k or so)
