clio 1.8 16v clutch

hi this is my first post but am hopfully buyin a n reg 16v with the folling problem its difficult to engage gear the seller asures me that its just the cable that either needs adjusting or replaceing some one maybe saw it on ebay what else could it be

Could be a none genuines cables been used as there usless.

New Renault ones are under £20 just use one of them forget any copy cat parts.

If its not that could be the gear leaver needs adjusting or the clutch is broken.
