Clio 1.8 16V p2 factory alarm probs

Hello there,

just came across this site today whilst doing overtime @ work..Nice site - printed off a membership form too..



I have a 16V clio (95) but am having a few probs. The factory alarm has never worked, but the immobiliser is ok. When the battery is flat and not enough power to turn the engine over the alarm sound slightly (like when u disconnect the battery).

About 4 weeks ago, some tw@ts broke into my car by simply popping the lock on the passenger side, and theiving my amp, sub and mids i had in the back.

Why dosent the bloody alarm work????

Also, i noticed in heavy rain, the sunroof leeks, where the remote locking sensor is, and the light switch, so i now have to unlock the door using the door lock, get in, and put the key right next to the remote sensor and disable the immobilser this way.

Could this have affected it? Does anyone know where i can get a new circuit board for the remote key sensor and how much?

the factory alarm can be switched off it might just be turned off

the key switch is uder the scuttle next to the washer bottle

thats if uve got the key i havent got mine and it might of been switched off cos it was knacked anyway

The leakage is coming in from the arial i think. check for gaps and get it sealed...! Common with all mk1 mk2 clios!

This takes me back ! (your reg doesnt end ETR does it !) anyways, my 95 16v was exactly the same towards the end.

The remote started to only work at very close range (like you say from inside the car) due to water ingress, then one day gave up the ghost completely ! I took the sensor PCB out and as well as being wet it also had some funny residue on it too. I gave it a good clean, dried it off thoroughly and it worked perfectly from full range again, worth a try.

same prob here mate, my alarm has never worked but the immobilisor works fine. Apparently the indicators flash twice when the alarm is set or turned off?!? Never worked on mine but didnt realise that you can actually turn the alarm off, ill check that twrw.

Water through the sunroof used to happen on my RT but thank god its not happening on my valver yet - dry use only when it gets repaired!

Thanks for the help you guys, i will try looking for gaps in the sunroof - what can i seal it with?

I have checked the remote sensor, and it does have loadsa white residue on it - will clean out tonight and dry - see what happens and let u know.

As for the alarm, i think i have tried this - with all the windows down to see if it worked...but no success - when the batterey was flat, and i turned the key, the indicators do attempt to flash and the siren sounds partially...weird sh1t...i will try again tw tho - cant do sh1t now its cold and dark after work now - not good car weather at all....

Think i need a new battery, one that will run an amp aswell, any decent recommendations?

Will, if the sunroof leaks the alarm is probably knackered by now.... read the other post further down on factory alarm problem by allan, ive probably answered your questions in there mate.
