= Clio 1.8 16v - Vs Civic 1.6 VTI =

Can someone please give me a realistic out come from going up against one of these civic VTIs. (only if you have raced one) i raced one a while back and to be truthful he gained a car length from from a fair and equal standing start until about 60mph - 70mph. ive raced a 1.6 CRX and wasnt impressed.. had to keep backing off over !10.

the VTI is meant to be packing 150bhp, from a 1.6 as standard!

any comments welcome.

Cheers.

Never raced 1 but I would say that youd probably lose... (Not by much mind)

They are actually 158 bhp @ 7600 Rpm and redline @ 8200!

Was it a three-door?

My flatmate used to have one before his 16v (he has a CTR as well now) and swears that the Civic was as fast.

i looked into buying one of these, they really are pocket rockets those vtec enognes are mad!!!! still i would love to go up against one...

16Valve, thats excellent... Thanks!

it appears a VTI can pull a quarter mile in 15.8secs, what does a stand clio 16v do it in? cant be any more then 16secs! i still think over 110 it would be another story.

P.S anyone wunna buy a valver? ;)

Just cos its "only" a 1.6 doesnt mean it cant whip summit with a bigger engine! If that was true, your 1.8 16v wouldnt be able to whip the pants off a 3 litre Vitara.

  clio 20v

aarons cs recently did a 15.9 which is quik for a standard valver think 2lives old valver did a 15.9 too

the official of 16.7 is prob right

Looking on SaxoSportsClub, VTSs run in the 15s..

One standard one, no mods or anything did it in 15.3!

the vti is quick think might just have you in valver, i know a lad with that engine in his rover coupe and can almost keep up with his brothers turbo.

think the crx you raced probably not a v-tec other wise you wouldnt have had to back off. probly just 1.6 none v-tec.

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Ive seen a Civic VTi in action (never raced one) & it was amazing, must have had NOS or something but it seemed to go for a LONG time in 1st and with real power. BTW I have seen a Spoon engined 1 at a track day at Oulton Park actually. I think i might get a V-TEC Honda 1 day; Jeremy Clackson absoulutly loves them 2.

i had a drive in a civic vti-s the other day, had to make a delivery to bham in it. It really is quite wicked when the power kicks in but it dosent start till about 5500 rpm! I must say it didnt feel quite as quick as my 16v, but it is too close to call really. I can definately say though that the clio would easily out handle it, felt wobbly!
