Clio 16V, random performance loss

Ok, heres my problem. The performance on my car is very variable. Most of the time the car doesnt work well at low revs, the engine sound is different, and the more gas you give it the worse it gets. Sometimes it will vibrate quite violently at WOT and low revs. Others there are flat spots all over the place, at different rpms. Other times its just perfect. At the moment it hesitates quite a lot and performance is noticeably less.

Another thing it does is that when I start it (hot or cold) most times it will idle very poorly, about to die, at 600-700 rpm. If you give it some gas it just dies. If you leave it for 10-20 sec it either dies or the revs jump suddenly and all is fine. If it dies, it is ok on restart.

Im pretty sure its nothing major as the car is perfectly ok sometimes. Probably a sensor or something.... Ive changed the coolant temp sensor a while back, so it cant be that.

Distr cap , rotor arm are ok.

Weird....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. Can someone tell me where the sensor for the oil temp gauge is? Mine isnt working.

sounds like you have a few problems there which could be caused by quite a few things.needs checking with a diagnostic machine really.
