Clio 172 bulb replacement.

Right, after all new bulbs for Clio ph2 172 non cup, from what I can see on the search I need d2s bulbs, but are they main or dipped? Also what ones for sidelights? Basically what bulb types to I need to buy, cheers.

Sidelights are W5W, don't what the others are.

Are the other lights Xenons or Halogen?

HID are dipped, main beam are standard halogen, not sure on the fit though, I've never changed my main beam, no real point and HID's don't work for main beam very well.
Are your HID's broken or faded?
Are you changing because you would like a different colour and lower light output?

And choose your colour, higher the kelvin lower the light output, 6k are popular, 4.3k are stock.

The xenon bulbs are D2S yeah, which are the dipped beam - I bought some 6000k ones from HIDs-Direct which give a nice white beam with a hint of blue in, anything over 6000k will become much bluer I think.

As mentioned the sidelights are W5W or 501's (same thing as far as I know) - I recommend staying away from the multi LED ones, I got some for my car and they don't really suit the car IMO - either go for standard bulbs or LED ones like this style.

The bulbs seem dull like some cheap ones I had off eBay before, and both lenses are broken so condensate like mad and are all cracked and scummy so after some new headlights and may aswell fit all new bulbs, standard Clio ph2 bulbs are H1, H7 and 501. So maybe H1, d2s and 501?

not sure what you mean by H1, H7 and 501, if you have HID's they are D2S not H anything.

The H1, H7 and 501 are standard Clio ph2 bulbs, not the renault sport ones. So if the dipped beams are the only HID ones would it make sense for the other two to be same as standard, so the set would be H1, D2S, and 501? D2S are dipped, 501 are side so could Either H1 or H7 be main?

No, only way of knowing what the main beam is, is to take it out, unless someone comes along who has changed it recently, even the manual gets it wrong.

Yeah I just looked at 20+ and looks like H1, maybe it should be added to a FAQ section that mk2 ph2 Clio bulbs are H1 - main, D2S - dipped and 501 - side?

maybe mate, trouble is sometimes Renault will fit a different bulb to what is listed in the manual.

Good ol frenchies, keep us guessing lol. Also can get the 6000k d2s bulbs and 501 led side bulbs on hids-direct but not any 6000k h1s am I over looking them or do they only sell the 4300k ones?

H1 are not HID so good old fashioned halogen, look on ebay for H1 nightbreakers and suchlike from Philips and Osram.
