well yea its 72k or 5 yrs so it sould have had a replacement but for peace of mind i would do it.
Cambelt kit , and depending if you have a/c a aux belt kit as well
and also it is advised to change the dephaser

If there is no paper work to say its had a belt with in the last 5 years or 70,000 miles then you MUST get it done asap. You will also need to get the aux belt done as well this is a kit only from Renault you get the belt and tensioner.

If you are getting the belt done by a local garage then it will probley be done wrong unless they have the correct Renault cam setting tools, these can be bought from Renault.

Hope this helps?

He said its a "cup" so there is no air con, replacing the dephaser as well makes it a expensive job as that is another £140 and if there is a problem with it then it only rattles.
I am just doing the belts on my ph1 and i am not changing mine but my car has only done 40k and had its oil changes every 6,000 miles...

Really?

i though cup's come without aircon, as its only un-necessary weight,

Best get the dephaser changed aswell though, because if it goes then its cambelt off again,

Yeah ac was an option, it's only ac and not cc like in none cupped 172s

  ITB'd MK1
variable valve timing pulley

I wouldn't bother changing it if it's not a problem already, especially on a cup. I would always change it for a discount if it became an issue after a belt change, and on a cup it's simple.

I bought a 172 cup not all that long ago, again with no history of the cambelt being done.

I bought the following from Renault
Cambelt kit
Auxiliary belt
Water Pump
dephaser pulley
Crank bolt
Cam cap plugs (or whatever they're called)

I know so people say why replace items that aren't broken such as a dephaser pulley and water pump, the way i see it is that everything around that area has been done now and hopefully all those items will be good for another 4/5years.
The parts cost me £330 and i paid a local specialist £200, so a bill of £530 for everything all in.

As for a induction kit, as Fred has said, stick with the original airbox and something like a ITG panel filter.
The plugs you want are NGK PFR6E-10
Oil wise i use silkolene pro s which i believe is now renamed as Fuchs titan race 5-40w

If after that you are still feeling flush then you could get the in let manifold "matched" this will realise a few bhp.

  ITB'd MK1
ITG's quite restictive as panel filters go for the clio. but as you have it, give it a thorough clean and lightly re-oil as they come massively over oiled from new

Cant belive some people dont know about cups and air con it eirther had none or climate control the later 182 cups had normal air con and no climate control.
ive just done a cambelt and dephaser for a chap on here and who ever done it last dont a brillant job NOT
so pick wisely
