Clio 172 Cup...Next mod...Turbo or Throttle Bodies???

  172 Cup & 600BHP supra
I am looking in the future to upgrade to over 200BHP. My real dilemer is do i go turbo or for throttle bodies, or any other bright ideas? What i need to know is who makes turbo and throttle body conversions?

Any comments welcome!

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
BBT & K-TEC do turbos £6-7k ish, altho i believe BBT are working on a smaller turbo conversion for the RS, AWT, Hillpower & Yozzasport do TB's £4kish pending on power required.

We have a few solutions that knock you over the 200bhp region quite happily without requiring a new ECU and the drawbacks associated with them.

hows about a solution to give my cup a genuine 190hp from 170hp for less than £1000

i reckon you should spend a bit of brass improving the breathing, get near 200bhp, then see how you find it, then bob throttle bodies on.

Its alot of cash either way.

How old is your car and are you planning on keeping it for a while?

The turbos will be big torque outputs but have only recently been developed (BBPT and KTEC) so you might question how reliable these conversions would be.

The throttle bodies are probably more of a proven product they wont get the torque figures of the turbos though but they will give you a seriously quick car.

My opinion, I think, is if youve got 6 to 7k for a turbo conversion spend it all on the throttle bodies route but get cams headwork etc. etc. etc. etc. until you have spent it all.

GDI and AWT do this work and they are rated highly on this forum.

i would get a map done with induction, decat, cams, and if possible a 182 manifold should see 195 i would imagine if done properly.

you'd be surprised, like i said, few tricks up my sleeve.

Meggerman, sadly £1000 might only buy you the hardware.
