clio 172 headlights

right folks,bought a 172 cup and it has normal headlights,wanting those bright xenon headlights you get in the 172 sport,what do i need is it as simple as change the bulbs or is there more i need to buy.

you'll need the whole unit I think. With ballasts. Ask in the wanted section.

You Could just buy a HID kit for the bulb fitment in your current lights.

300 quid for a set of Xenon lights.

Genuine Renault too.

You can have genuine renault which are a rip off, or buy cheap. Which is what most people do, can pick them up for <£70 on ebay. I payed £40 for mine, can do pictures. I'm not sure what they're like from renault, but mine look like this

do they just look the same when they are on as you get on the sport?

may be a slightly different colour, as you can get anthing from 4300k up to 20000k i have 6000k in a mk1 i'll post a picture, i dont know what the renault part looks like, but with these you put the bulb in connect to the ballast, and find somewhere to locate the ballast, either cable tie somewhere or bolt them in.


You're not going to believe this, but i just got my car out of the garage for the first time in 2 days, one of the ballasts has failed and will not light the bulb. However Don't let this put you off this kit is over two years old and has been through 2 corsas and now only the Clio, was just like luck that they're all the same bulb fitment. As far as i'm aware pretty much ALL HID kits are the same, just some have been branded and the price wacked up, never had an issue with the kit before today.

HIDs Ignited, Mine are technically illegal as i'm not running projector lenses, but i believe the 172s have projector lenses?

And if you're looking for what to buy, not sure what bulb fitment yours is. Just find the bulb fitment for example, h4, and search on ebay for " h4 HID kit" mine were imported from china.

If your car is two different bulbs for dipped and Full beam, I suggest getting the HID kit for dipped obviously, but for full beam , just get some osram night breakers, its not often you've got your full beam on realisticly
