Hi all,

I brought a magnex oval exhaust (full system)... sounds gr8, i noticed a slight improvement in power.

Although when a mechanic i no looked at it, he said you have paid for a full system but only got the middle and the backbox... is this right? I brought it from brand new costed £400 inc fitting...

Ive been told that if you remove the Cat converter the power will increase alot!, i was thinking of gettin this done and getting it put on again before my MOT (due to failing??) Is this a lot of work involved... and i think its illegal?

you got a cat-back system which i believe is generally called a full system. next would be a sports cat.

changing the cat isnt the easist thing to do.

Hello mate, you have bought a full system from the cat back and the price sounds right to me inc fitting. What your mate is describing, is a full system including de-cat pipe.

I don't know personally about removing the cat, i know it will help your car breathe a lot easier and will be a lot louder, don't know about noticeable power increases though. Don't think its a lot of work to do either, I think there are a few people on here who have de-cats fitted so hopefully they will be able to help you more mate. Chris

Well when i brought it the benifits of it were... Great sound... yer ok i got tht... more mpg...erm...nah... and up 2 a 10% power increase... well i noticed a slight bit of difference in the response.. how bout a viper induction kit?? anyone no ne thing about those?

Ok i was thinking of changing my back box on my car its a magnex oval, can i just buy another magnex back box and fit it, or isnt that easy??

I have a magnex system with Janspeed sports cat! Passes MOT noticable increase in power and sounds great without being stupid loud! I'd get a sports cat before a decat, saves messing around at mot time!

I'm guessing fom your earlier post you're changing from the oval to the twin outlet as you mentioned buying another magnex box?

Should be straight forward, the system is 2.5" so if you're buying a new back box on it's own just don't fit the reducer sleeve that it comes with as you won't need it. All the mounts are identical to your oval 6x4

Its that time of year again... MOT... I am quite friendly with the bloke at the garage he has a Renault 5. I was gonna ask him about a Decat on my exhaust...

If i was to get a striaght through pipe will it fail the MOT, or will the sliencer be a better one?

Judging by the name i guess the sliencer quiet downs the Decat?

I declared my exhaust on my insurance...under Cat/Decat so that wont bump it up, if im paying for it i may as well have it right haha??
