clio 172 phase 1 idling problem

  clio 172 sport ph1
Hey guys i`m a bit stuck on what to do,my 172 is idling between 400 and 600 rpm when i`ve been told it should be running between 700 and 900 rpm,i`ve put the original airbox back on,that hasn`t done nothin, cleaned the idle speed control valve with brake cleaner (as advised by a specialist) and that still hasn`t cured it! can anyone shed any light on as to what to try please?? spark plugs ,pencil HT leads??? any advice would be great as it stalls now and then if i don give it enough revs, cheers people i hope you can help :) :)

Have you tried re-indexing the ICV?

PF1C ICV - Part No's Magneti Marelli: B28/00 Renault: 7700102539 VDO: D95166

With ignition on for 5 seconds with engine not running remove idle valve block connector. Then turn the ignition off and wait 10 seconds for system to power down, then reconnect idle control valve connector. Turn ignition back on without starting engine and repeat this 3 times. Idle control valve will normally be indexed to the idle position. With valve reconnected start engine and allow to idle , as system adapts to the new valve idle speed will start to hold at normal speed within normally 1 minute.

If the idle speed is still too high or low you need to repeat this but normally it does it first time if all pipes are intact and not leaking.

Hi mate thanks for the reply, I sprayed it a few times with brake cleaner and the inlet manifold used a clean rag and wiped them both :)

Thanks Gaz mate will try what P@blo suggested tonight then let you know if I need it, someone suggested the idle problem could be somethin to do with the cams, is that possible???

Hi P@blo, just done what you suggested and no different mate, still running at 600 rpm, did it 8 times just to be sure and still the same, it's a slight misfire coming from the exhaust but no loss in performance so I've bought some spark plugs see if that cures it :)

Cheers gaz will wait for the spark plugs to arrive and see what that does, as the guy I bought it off said he'd 'cleaned' the spark plugs so that's probably why it's got a slight misfire, well am hoping so lol oh forgot to ask what price are you lookin for them if I do need them? What's TB?? Cheers, Craig.
