Clio 172 piston rings, what options?

hmh

  Renault Clio RS 172 ph1
Mechanic said (after taking a look of course) that it may make sense changing my piston rings while my engine is apart. Originals are about 80$ per cylinder which is costly enough. Manufacturer of pistons is Kolbenschmidt (so I believe they are for the rings as well) but parts for F4R engine will be on their aftermarket catalogue only since 2010 (this is per email from their manager), so no way to order it directly from KS instead of Renault.
What are other options there, with approximate prices if available plz.

They were Renault only from last time I looked a few months, not aware of that changing since then.

But if you can get them for 80$ per cylinder thats cheap....

yeah, list prices are 75-85, but then add time for delivery and it often happens that cheaper supplier reject orders more often and you need to order again from another one
There's a little chance that officials have them in stock but they must have bigger prices.

I'll check Woessner catalogue, thnx for tip.

Btw, a guy I know recently had his engine completely renewed and he chose piston rings (he doesn't remember manufacturer) to buy by giving rings sizes - diameter and thickness - to the seller. The price was 140$ for 4 cylinders.
Although the engine runs ok, I'm a bit concerned about using his experience for the following reason: Kolbenschmidt catalogue lists different kinds of rings: chrom plated, tin plated etc - 7 kinds overall. So picking just by size e.g. from another car make engine seams error prone.

Btw some of older Renault engines with piston diameter = 82,7 present in KS catalogue e.g. F3R . Anyone knows if they fit F4R?
