Clio 172 rs smoke from air con.

hi ,
i just bought an Clio 172 rs 2001 , today in traffic light i smelled something under the hood,
pulled over and i saw smoke coming from the air con, and i saw it wont spinning, but when i turn on the AC its spinning ok.
can the smoke come from the belt ?
what can i do with the air con ?

It looks like it's had a new tensioner recently. I'd be making sure belt is seated properly and I'd start the car to see if the aircon pulley is definitely seized. If so becareful because I'd imagine the belt wont last long. IF it snapped could wrap around the crank then its game over.

Hi, I went today to a Renault garage, its the air con, need to be replaced.
Hope the belt is still ok, thanks for the help
