If he was on here, chances are he wont be now I dont think, 90% of CS would have taken the piss..

Great work but kind of pointless IMO..

Couldn't be doing with that although to be fair it probably drives like new, but with the amount of parts he's bought cost as much as new.

He is on here. Under the same username (Vecbtb), whenever a BTB post gets put up he's there to answer.

Great attention to detail there though.

Fair play to the guy he's put a lot of hard work into it but for what. In a few months it'll start rusting and getting gunked up unless he keeps on top of it.

Don't get me wrong, but it does seem a bit pointless, but fair play to him if that's what rocks his boat.

Nice to see he cares enough about his car to go to those lengths.
I wouldn't bother no matter how much I love my car.

Imagine a picture of a front wheel and suspension assembly, built out of box-fresh parts.
voila.

Yes it's very clean, but unless they go the whole clog and start 'detailing' the road surfaces of the country, I cannot see the point. Is it going on a show stand or something like that?

Yes it's mine. Didn't post it on here as I assumed (correctly as it seems) that it might baffle the CS massive. It's done nearly 90k miles, does around 10k miles a year and is used everyday. It now drives like new and will hopefully continue to give me enjoyable motoring for many more thousands of miles. As for driving through puddles - it still looks like new after a pressure was thanks to the Swissvax spray water repellant sealant that's been applied. The rust inhibitor coatings and quality topcoats should give it half a chance of looking good for a long while. I was thinking about bringing it to Cliosport Saturday and taking a couple of wheels off - by the sound of things I don't think it will go down to well. lol!

Get it brought along, nice to see some propper attention to detail and its looking like a very good job. I enjoyed doing the arch detail on my trophy a while back but never went near the running gear

I think I want to go outside and paint my suspension now. What paint did you use on the struts?

Thanks, but I don't think I'll bother lol.

Best to read through the thread on DW - it's all in there.

You carry on mate,I don't like snooker but admire how skilful the players are,I know the game isn't easy.

I think the inner arches need painting to make it really special. The renault way of "f**k it, just give it a dusting" really lets it down.

But apart from that, spot on

Don't pay any attention to them. I have paid more attention to that thread than any other in my years of hanging out on boards like this (Subaru, Porsche, Mitsubishi and more). I have more fun in the 182 we bought my wife new in 04 than any other but have struggled with what to do with it now that it has been getting tired (even with only 35k). Your thread has changed all that and I now intend to restore it and keep it indefinitely.

One question, you mentioned blasting the BTB in your last post, any pics anywhere of how this will turn out, do they offer it as a standard service? I've been looking at ceramic coating a standard exhaust but yours sounds interesting...

Glad my thread has been of interest. The blasting that BTB are doing on my back box uses water and glass under high pressure. The media used in stainless blasting has an effect on the finish. The glass will give it a uniform satin silver finish. Their tank is only used for smallish items and you couldn't get an exhaust system in (other specialist blasters might have larger tanks), however backboxes and manifolds are possible. Not sure what they charge for this, mine is a favour.

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing it on a later update on the thread at DW. Have you ever used the VHT paint on a standard exhaust and/or cat, think it would be up to it? I want to replace my Prospeed with a standard exhaust, but would rather it didn't turn brown again within a couple of years. Ceramic coating would be perfect, but is looking to be very expensive for the whole system.
