clio 172 sounds like a diesel!!!

my clio 172 cup sounds like a diesel when it gets warmed up and a ticking noise from top end but drives like normal and performance has not changed either can anyone help with what this could be? thanks

Check your oil level?

water pump().....dephaser pulley,carbon cannister or a stone in your tyre

oil ok checked that already definatly not a stone in the tyre probably sounds louder than a diesel more like a tractor. i shall ask a garage to have a look i think. thanks.

Tractor = dephaser pulley 95% of the time..

The cost of a cambelt change plus the dephaser itself which is around £160.
You're looking at over £500 for a full cam belt kit, auxiliary belt kit, dephaser and labour.
