Clio 172 Xenons

How easy do you reckon it will be to upgrade my cup with 172 xenons, any body ever done this? Not a cheap mod I know, but youve got to admit, they are the dogs balls. I can live without leather, ABS etc, but Id really love those xenons!

ITLL COST A FAIR BIT! JUST GET SOME DECENT BULBS. ASK ROBFENN!

RENAULY WANTED £500 INITIALLY TO FIT EM. THEYLL PROB WANT MORE AS AN AFTERMARKET

I dont think Ill ever have another car thats not got Xenons, My Old Polo Gti had them aswell miles better than Std lights, but you have to keep them clean , hard work with UK winter grime.

P.S Exactly what is contained in the crap that covers Britains roads, I came back for two weeks at Xmas, drove 300ks to Calais, the car wasnt too bad, then 500ks from Folkstone too Yorkshire and it was black!!!!

  Corsa 1.3 CDTI

Dont they require a computer to control them, they also need to be self levelling and have a washer jet to clean them (something about the law in this conuntry)

IIRC they take less power than a normal bulb as well.

yeah they do and that doesnt include the other bits needed. u need the unit that sits next to the engine, something to do with power i think (cos they need alot!) as well as other things u may need!

Aye, I think theres some on ebay at the moment, but its just the headlamps on thier own - no bulbs/discharger, apparently bulbs are £150 each!?

How easy do you reckon theyll be to fit, had a quick look the other day, wouldnt know where to start! Bloody renaults are crap to work on..

  Nippy white cup

I think they use less power once running but take a fair bit to light them at first ( not sure on that tho)

  not a clio anymore

Oh yeah, and for that ebay article, make sure you have all the bits such as the power regulator, the automatic height adjusment and youll still need to fit some headlight washers if you want to pass your MOT. As JonC say, you are better off stripping a 172 and paint it the right color

While were on the subject of lights, where abouts do you stick the tape/sticker on clio lights when driving in europe, or in my case coming back to the UK? Im sick to death of being flashed by everyone coming the other way, as Im blinding them  The annoyance is only relieved by hitting them with the full beams:D

Solution:
Peel the Cup stickers off the doors, sell the Cup, get a slightly older 172 for the same money, fit eibach springs to give it the handling, remove the spare wheel, stick the Cup stickers back on, viola! a fully loaded "Cup" with C/C, xenons, CD Changer, leather seats.:)

  172 cup,s2 rs turbo

it would cost about £1500>£2000 in parts and then labour for fitting.could be done but very pricey,is it worth it?

the bulb starter packs are about £300 each to start with and you need a lot more parts as well as them.

They allow you to see where you are going and blind drivers that dont have em comming the other way..

they dont have an element wire like on normal bulbs.the electric in xenons is made to jump across the gap(this gives you the intial light),then this electric heats up the xenon gas inside the bulb(this produces the main light).you can see the gas warming up and producing the light when you switch them on(the beam colour changes)
