Hi all im new and i would really like to get myself a clio 172 but i was woundering what the youngest person was who owns one as the insurance for me is really high

I certainly know that there is an 18 year old on here who owns a 172 Cup..paying something like £3k insurance! Each to their own, but it depends how much you're willing to spend?

How old are you? And what quotes have you been getting?

im 19 was getting qoutes of 2-3k was just woundering if they was any way around getting it cheaper. i may just go for the 1.6 Dynamique what do they handle like

2-3k is a hell of a lot of money for a 172/182

Not sure what the 1.6s handle like but a nice looking car and will be good for racking up some NCD in until you can get the insurance on the 172 down to a reasonable figure.

I think some people on here have converted their 1.6s to look like 172/182 quite successfully.

i dont think that i would convert the clio to look like the 172/182 the 1.6 insurance is good tho its only 800

Kev have you tried receiving quotes with parents on the policy as named drivers? It can sometimes help lower the premium.

yer i av put my mum and dad both on the insurance but it dont lower it by much

Not so good How high is the excess on those quotes?

400 excess its madnes think ill have to go for the 1.6 for a yr then go for the 182 when i turn 21

Thats the sensible option, unless your rakeing in some seriously good money! 182's like to drink if you're heavy on the right pedal! Lol.

im 20 payin 2300 with 1ncb and an accident, ppl tell me im mental payin that but nothing compares to the smile a cliosport puts on your face and its the car ive always wanted, i would say just go for it. (used to dive a 1.5dci billabong)


Oh yea and whatever you think you will pay in fuel x2 its torture
