clio 182 0-60 6.7secs read this

got me new car few days ago. heres what i done today.

done a 0-60 test earleir with a gps gadget and done it in 6.7 secs with 2 people in car me 12 stone mate 15 stone and 1/4th tank of fuel and 300 miles on the clock.

very impressed.

Chuck yer mate out, lose some weight and run it in for a few more miles and you should get 6.3;)

Gonna do some testing with my G-meter when the 182 arrives, see what I get.
Ive used one of these in the past and it was a little "generous" shall we say... especially the 1/4 mile times!

An AP-22 is much better.

yeah-how accurate are these things???????????????

i used to think my nova sr was in the 8 sec bracket!

i now know otherwise

no offence mate

There are a number of threads that support the accuracy over at the overclockers uk forums including those that have run the pod with the G-meter and been 0.02 seconds out.

To be honest, at 30quid for the G-meter, its close enough to get a good idea.

An AP-22 is also 3 or 4 times the cost, so I would expect it to be 3 or 4 times more accurate, is it? Im not convinced so hence spent 30 instead of 120ish.

  don't

£30, thats pretty cheap, where can i get 1 of these things

whats full name 4 it and where do u fit it etc what does it fit 2???

interested in getting 1,

cheers

What exactly is the correct 0 to 60 time of the 182?

In my copy of Evo they did a group test in which the Clio pulled off a 7.0 in the wet, 2 up and with a full tank of fuel (average over 2 runs in opposite directions).

In the back of Evo they have independent test times that has the 182 in the mid 6s which I assume is 1up and dry.

I have seen plenty of other independent tests in car magazines that repeatedly have the 172 and 182 doing mid 6s so how did Renault come up with 7.1 secs?

Most of the tests I have seen put the Clio ahead of the Type R on the 0-60 tests so why are Renault shooting themselves in the foot from a marketing point of view or are they trying to protect the Megane 225 from losing sells to the Clio?

"how did Renault come up with 7.1 secs?"

apparently sommit to do with keepin the insurance group at low as possible, my Astra coupe turbo (which i still aint sold, so i cant pick up my 182) has a book figure of 7.0 but 6.5 can consistaly be achieved...

TESLA, G-TECH, GTECH, PERFORMANCE METER / PRO

GTECH PERFORMANCE METER / PRO
These GTECHs are brand new in their original boxes. Our supplier in the USA bulk purchased them, so we are able to bring them to you at a great price! They retail for £158.80 in a well known mail order performance parts catalogue. Why pay that when you can bid on them here and get them for much less? (If your questions are not answered on this page, email us and ask for a copy of the owners manual)

DESCRIPTION
The G-TECH / Pro is an electronic Performance Meter for automobiles. Its designed to make a professional test driver out of anybody. All you have to do is plug it into a cigarette lighter, mount it to the windscreen and start accelerating. G-TECH/Pro does the rest automatically and displays the results. Its a great way to get performance and safety information about your car!

Since G-Tech won the "Best New Accessory Product" award at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas for the original G-TECH they havent stopped research and development. The result is the G-TECH/Pro model.

G-Tech are very proud of the G-TECH/Pro. The responses to the Pro have been phenomenal. Magazines are raving about it. Customers are loving it. New Digital Signal Processing algorithms coupled with Gold Plated Circuitry and a Precision Silicon Accelerometer ensure impeccable accuracy.

WHAT CAN IT DO?

G-TECH/Pro takes advantage of many different measurements that can be gathered from acceleration over time. For Horsepower measurement the user has to input the weight of the vehicle. The G-Tech/Pro utilizes a "Intuitive User Interface". To input weight all you have to do is simply tilt the G-TECH/Pro up and the numbers will increase and if you tilt it down the numbers will decrease. The further you tilt it the faster the numbers change.

In Horsepower mode G-TECH/Pro will display currently delivered horsepower during acceleration and then when you slow down it will display maximum delivered horsepower.
All the measurements are performed automatically. All you have to do is push the button indicating to G-TECH/Pro that you are ready and then G-TECH/Pro will zero-out and display -GO-. Then simply start accelerating. G-TECH/Pro will know your speed and distance at any given moment and stop the measurement at 60 mph or 1/4 mile point.

While measuring Lateral or Longitudinal Gs the user has the choice of Instantaneous or Continuous mode. Instantaneous Gs are great for analyzing when tyres lost traction during braking and cornering or measuring any other kind of G-load. Continuous Gs are designed for standard skid pad handling measurements of Lateral Gs.

When measuring Braking distance in feet user doesnt have to start braking exactly at 60 mph. G-TECH/Pro knows the speed always and it will only measure distance from 60-0 mph even if you started braking at 65 mph for example.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The heart of the G-TECH/Pro is a precision silicon accelerometer. An accelerometer is a sensor that measures acceleration, also known as G-Force. G-Force is whats keeping you in your seat as you are reading these words and if it wasnt for the seat you would be accelerating to the ground at 1G (32 feet per second per second).

G-TECH/Pro measures your speed and distance travelled by integrating acceleration over time. Basically, if you know how fast you are accelerating for a certain time period youll know how much your speed has changed after that time period. So, if you start off from zero speed then youll know what your speed is after every time period. These time periods are very small (2.5 milliseconds) and thats how G-TECH/Pro maintains its accuracy.

Distance is measured in the same fashion, if you know how fast you are going for a certain time period you will know what is the distance travelled during that time period.

G-TECH/Pro also measures delivered Horsepower, sometimes called Rear Wheel Horsepower. This horsepower includes the loss of power through the drivetrain which is usually 10-15%. The formula for Horsepower is speed times acceleration times the weight of the vehicle.

HOW ACCURATE IS IT?
The best way to look at accuracy is in two different ways. Resolution is the smallest segment of a given measurement that G-TECH/Pro can sense. Real Life accuracy is the worst case scenario to be expected in your measurements.
The difference between Resolution and Real Life accuracy is the result of noise, temperature dependency, vibration and other elements that influence the accelerometer and other internal electronic circuitry.

The G-TECH/Pro’s accelerometer is one of the best in the world. It starts out as a 1/8 inch silicone cube. Then its laser sliced in to a sandwich with the critical mass in the middle. It sits in the specially designed silicone gel with dampening characteristics tailored for automotive dynamics. On top of all this there is a special accelerometer enclosure with grounded metal layer for EMI shielding.
TESLA Electronics Inc. believe that the best way to insure accuracy is to get a good, clean signal from the outside world and thats why the accelerometer in the G-TECH/Pro costs more than all other parts put together.

Having used one of these myself and compared 1/4 mile times it gave me to ones using proper timing equipment, they were always out...

also tryed with a stop watch and got the same times as the gps. so they seem to be accurate enougth. and i also heard that they had to stat that was the 0-62 time as i put the 182 in the group 17-18 range. then nobody would by it. as insurance would be a lot for a small hot hatch.
