Clio 182 0-60!

6.3? that makes it quicker then the Astra VXR which is at 6.4..... Hmm

Ow and the Focus ST which is 6.5... I'm sure that can't be correct now...

I got 5.4 a while back (on a phone AND with a passenger timing it) so im clearly the best one here!

6.3 does seem a bit quick but at the end of the day, are we going to argue with figures that are in black and white? Also, Evo magazine have tested various Cliosport models at 6.5 yet many people will still say the car is 6.8 or even 7 seconds to 60mph. Maybe some people get mixed up with 0-62mph.

I think its pretty difficult to get a sub 6 second time in any front wheel drive car due to getting traction when launching it. Hence why the gap between something quick and something fairly quick 0-60 wise doesnt show how quick the car is! (if that makes sense!)

I think 30 - 70 and 50 - 70 are a better indication, ie a focus st would prob kill a 172 in terms of 30 - 70 and 50 - 70 but not so much in the 0 - 60.

Anyone getting below 7 is doing well. I've seen Vees struggle to get below 7. However, they do suck a$$.

A focus ST doesnt kill a 182 30-70, my mate has a ST mapped to 280bhp, from 30-70 he only pulled about 1 car length on me so i wouldnt class that as killing me, cant say what happened after 70 upwards, 4 car lengths, lol.
He did take me out in it down a twisty road and the ST and it was just spinning out of every corner, he said my Trophy would have the ST down the twisty bits as the ST is too heavy and has too much power through the front wheels.
But really who cares, came up against a few mates cars, new R32, civic type r, accord type r, R27, corrola Tsport, Subaru bugeye WRX and the Trophy more than holds its own on straights and twisty bits :)

IIRC, the clio will have any car in the twisties.

Evo tested it at 6.6. However its irrelivant anyway because you have to dump the cluch etc to get those kind of times. 0-100 is a better test of a cars performance.

I like to quote the lowest figures possible if someone asks, so 6.3 sounds good, even though mines a 172 haha.

On another note, looking at the Renault Sport website, they seem to think that they made 2,302 Monaco Blue 172 Cups

The simple fact is that many magazines have used proper timing equipment to show that the 182 is capable of reaching 60mph in less than 6.5 seconds, yet people cling to the 7.1 figure like they cling to the claimed power figures :D

TBH none of it means much. Too much is down to how hard you're prepared to launch it, and how hard you're willing to change into second gear. All the hot hatches are virtually identical to 80mph or so. In fact most of them are very similar up to 100mph. Hell, even an Astra VXR will not leave a Clio far behind from 0-100mph. In-gear is a different story of course.

As an all round car, the 182 is pretty s**t TBH but, they surprise a lot of 'big players' in their STs and VXRs. On track it'll show them the way home :)
